It has been a tough time during the last two years ever since the presence of COVID-19 pandemic. Many of our planned events, meeting and else needed to be cancelled. This August as the number of cases has been reduced and controlled, the Indonesian Hip and Knee Society (IHKS), in collaboration with Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society (APAS) and Asia Pacific Knee Society (APKS) held Hip & Knee Summit in Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Nusa Dua, Bali. This combined meeting is also supported by American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeon (AAHKS), European Knee Society (EKS), Australian Knee Society (AKS).
The event was held from 22nd to 27th of August 2022. During the first two days there were cadaveric workshop for all inside ACL and PCL reconstruction and complex pelvic and acetabular fracture surgical fixation, simultaneous with AO recon course and workshop for complex hip and knee with well-known international and national faculties.
On the 24th of August 2022, the event was opened by Cokorda Gde Oka Dharmayuda, dr. Sp.OT(K) as the chairman of Hip and Knee Summit 2022, Dr. M Zaim Chilmi, dr., Sp.OT(K) as the president of IHKS, Prof. Dr. Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, dr. Sp.OT(K), Ph.D as the president of APAS, APKS, ASIA, Dr. Edi Mustamsir, dr. Sp.OT(K) as the president of Indonesian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) and M. Adib Khumaidi, dr., Sp.OT as the president of Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI). There was also a handover of IHKS presidency from Dr. M Zaim Chilmi, dr., Sp.OT(K) to Kiki Novito, dr., Sp.OT(K).
The main event, a scientific meeting last for three days from August 24 to 26 2022 consisting of symposiums with main theme around hip, knee, and sport with world renown experts from America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Every sessions were concluded with interesting discussions between participants and panelist.
Aside from scientific meeting, there were also gatherings. The first dinner was held for member, fellow and post fellow of IHKS. The second gathering was gala dinner held in Jendela Bali, Garuda Wisnu Kencana for all international and national faculties, officials and participants of the event. And the third is a faculty dinner.
During the gala dinner, there were hand over of presidency four international organizations. Presidency of ASEAN Arthroplasty Association (AAA) from Dr. M Zaim Chilmi, dr., Sp.OT(K) to Mar Cadag, MD. Presidency of Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society (APAS) from Prof. Dr. Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, dr. Sp.OT(K), Ph.D to Bharat Mody, MD. Presidency of Asia Pacific Knee Society (APKS) from Prof. Dr. Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, dr., Sp.OT(K), Ph.D to Parag Sancheti, MD. Presidency of Arthroplasty Society in Asia (ASIA) from Prof. Dr. Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, dr. Sp.OT(K), Ph.D to Yixin Zhao, MD. We also launched a book about Prosthetic Joint Infection written by Prof. Thorsten Gehrke, MD and translated to bahasa Indonesia by team of experts, lead by Prof. Dr. Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, dr. Sp.OT(K), Asep Santoso, dr., Sp.OT(K), Sholahuddin Rhatomy, dr., Sp.OT(K), Krisna Yuarno Phatama, dr., Sp.OT(K), and Kukuh Dwiputra Hernugrahanto, dr., Sp.OT(K). After these series of events, there was also a band performance by member of the IHKS.
The following night there was a faculty dinner in Melia, Bali for national and international faculties. There was an introduction of the Editorial Board of The Hip and Knee Journal, the official journal of IHKS. Among those, national members including Prof. Dr. Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, dr. Sp.OT(K), Prof. Dr. Ismail Hadisoebroto Dilogo, dr., Sp.OT(K), Prof. Dr. Dwikora Novembri Utomo, dr. Sp.OT(K), Sholahuddin Rhatomy, dr., Sp.OT(K), Asep Santoso, dr., Sp.OT(K), Krisna Yuarno Phatama, dr., Sp.OT(K), Dr. Edi Mustamsir, dr., Sp.OT(K), Imelda Lumban Gaol, dr., Sp.OT. Some of the present international members were Prof. Rob G.H.H. Nelissen, Ph.D, Mojieb Manzary, MD, Parag Sancheti, MD.
Hip and Knee Summit 2022 also arranged poster and podium presentation. For podium presentation, and APAS free paper. The first place of poster presentation and Chehab Runi Award was given to Nabila Nishat, with first runner up went to Wijaya Johanes Chendra and second runner up went to Febrian Brahmana. Winner of podium presentation on the topic of trauma was Abdul Waris Imran. APAS free paper first place was awarded to Dheasitta Andini Putri, first runner up was awarded to Faseeh Zaidi and second runner up was awarded to David Liu. Honourable mentions for free paper were given to Brad Atkinson, Narendra singh Kushwaha, Maria Anastasia.
